Green Building Future
Experts predict the next 10 years of green building.
The next 10 years of green building is the subject of a new post in Natural Home Magazine. The article marks Natural Home’s 10th anniversary.
To tackle the question they strung together a “visionary group of architects and educators to predict what will happen to housing over the next decade.” Natural Home says their insights were “surprisingly full of optimism.”
Some of the trends mentioned by the expert panel were:
- A change in the quality of construction (hopefully for the better)
- Suburban sprawl will be a thing of the past.
- Computer-aided design for tailored space rather than lots of space without definition.
- Regionalized housing that considers regional materials rather than a nationwide one size fits all.
- Viewing houses as long-term investments where short-term house management costs trump building houses that use cheaper wasteful products.
- Water usage will become key.
