Tulsa NINE
It’s especially nice to see green homes we’ve come to expect anywhere on the “green coast,” built in a city many people don’t think of first when they think about trend setting architecture.
But that’s exactly what this loft by ONE Architecture in Tulsa, Oklahoma represents.
As Inhabitat reports, this project which received a LEED Platinum rating was designed “as a learning tool for Oklahoma, expressing what a “green” home can look like.”
VOC-free bamboo and Eco-Terr recycled-glass terrazzo floors give the interior a quality look. Prefabricated SIPs made near the project site reduced transport, waste, and keep the home well insulated too. Energy saving dual flush toilets, tankless water heaters, and Energy Star appliances are featured inside, while a bison-grass green roof and geothermal heating connect the earth and sky to the structure dubbed NINE (New Inspiration for a Natural Environment).
