D-Minution House
Proving that you can design a beautifully modern house under a basic budget, SUB (Studio for Visionary Design) introduces the D-Minution House. The three bedroom 1050 square foot house was built for $17,500.
Of course costs vary from that in Jakarta where D-Minution House was built, but it’s still an impressive accomplishment.
Constructed with a mix of basic materials like steel, concrete, wood, and glass, the house fits its surroundings as all materials were local and designed to resemble typical Indonesian typologies.
One example is the 30 cm gap left by the windows on the second floor to allow air to circulate including a cool breeze when it rains. Large overhanging eaves keep the house dry. Read story in ArchDaily.

It looks like a supermax prison cell. What it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in sheer brutalism.

I can’t believe how cheap this house is. It looks quite modern and I like all of the windows. I would of thought with all that glass it would raise the price of the house substantially.
