Concrete Plan
Hoping to be an idea readily accepted by consumers in its own way similar to “clean coal” technology, a new formula for concrete that reduces carbon emissions has been created by a UK company.
Novacem, with financial backing by significant groups says concrete doesn’t have to be a carbon creating hazard, but in fact can be the opposite. A recent Rushlight Award panel was in agreement.
According to Novacem, this “new generation of green cement” omits limestone and calcium carbonate, and relies instead on the non-carbon emitting magnesium oxide, making the product carbon neutral. Further, during hardening, the formula actually absorbs CO2 making it “carbon negative.” Read post in Inhabitat.
